The concept of decoupled manipulators, in which the X-ray tube and detector travel independently from the inspection item, allows optimal use to be made of the Y.MU2000-D inspection envelope and permits large parts to be inspected at a low space requirement. Vertical travel and a tilting of the beam when X-raying are possible without changing the focus-to-detector distance (FDD) because the X-ray tube and detector are mutually mounted on one U-arm.

The parts manipulator travels manually or optionally motorized out of the radiation-shielded cabinet. Together with the large loading and unloading door, they assure that inspection parts can be exchanged easily.

When equipped with a user-definable workflow control and digital image enhancement programs, the system is also network-capable. Following integration into the company network, inspection results are now available quickly, uncomplicatedly and extensively, even on a decentralized basis.

Using Y.HDR-Inspect, scanning inspection involving digital “highly dynamic radioscopy”, the inspection item is inspected in motion by employing a combination of a flat-panel detector and Y.IMAGE image processing. Parallel to its irradiation function, Y.MU2000-D is optionally equipped with computed tomography to provide the user with even more detailed information on the location and area of casting flaws.

Y.MU2000-D can be deployed equally well for both spot-check sample and series inspection. The system offers high-grade material inspection quality, even when the materials are as different as steel, aluminum, ceramics, plastic or rubber.
